Which Gyms Are Open on Thanksgiving 2020? Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, Equinox Opening Hours

Some gyms are open on Thanksgiving, which this year falls on November 26. Here we look at the hours of operation at some major gyms across the country, including Crunch Fitness, Gold’s Gym and more.

Planet Fitness

Most Planet Fitness gyms are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Contact your local venue to confirm before visiting.

The fitness chain has implemented several safety measures amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, including “requiring all members to wear masks while in-club so you can gym safely and confidently.

“Keep a safe distance by putting an imaginary treadmill, or two, between you and others,” the company noted.

Guests can also see how many people are at their local branch before visiting through the Planet Fitness mobile app. “Just open up the app and tap Crowd Meter to view how many members are there,” the company advises.

LA Fitness

Some LA Fitness locations have yet to resume operations amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, while several have reopened. Some LA Fitness gyms have been on a reduced schedule on Thanksgiving in previous years, while some facilities have been closed. Contact your nearest venue to confirm Thanksgiving opening hours before visiting.

The hours of operation at Equinox over holidays, such as Thanksgiving, vary by location. Check your local branch to confirm opening and closing times before visiting.

Equinox gyms have also issued new safety guidelines amid the ongoing pandemic.

“Physical distancing of at least 6-to-10 feet, depending on local guidelines, between members and employees is required at all times. Please respect floor markings and any other visual cues that facilitate distancing at the front desk, in our locker rooms, studios, and other club areas.

“Mask requirements vary by local government mandates,” and guests are advised to check their local branch for details before visiting.

Guests are required to make a booking for their gym session before their visit using the Equinox mobile app, while some branches may require a temperature check.

See the Equinox website for more information.

Crunch Fitness

Some branches of Crunch Fitness are operating on reduced hours on Thanksgiving.

Crunch Fitness gyms have introduced several safety measures, including mask requirements for staff “alongside other PPE [personal protective equipment] if required by public health officials.

“We recommend members wear masks within the gym (unless mask wearing is required at all times by public health officials),” the company said.

Social distancing guidelines and enhanced disinfecting equipment have also been implemented, including the “airPHX clean air systems” which “uses atmospheric cold plasma to change a small percentage of the oxygen molecules in the air into a unique spectrum of oxidizing molecules that kill bacteria, viruses, and mold,” the company noted.

See the Crunch Fitness website to see the hours of operation and the specific safety guidelines issued at your nearest branch.

Anytime Fitness

Anytime Fitness gyms are usually open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including on holidays such as Thanksgiving. Contact your local branch to confirm before visiting.

Hours after Lightfoot announces new COVID-19 restrictions, Birx warns during Chicago visit that closing public spaces won’t be enough

CHICAGO — Just hours after Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced new restrictions on businesses in response to rising COVID-19 cases, White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx cautioned that closing public spaces won’t be enough to stop the illness’s spread.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot speaks before delivering her budget address on October 21, 2020, in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Birx said it’s possible some of the recent spread is happening in people’s homes, during family gatherings, as the weather gets colder. She spoke at a news conference following a private meeting with leaders from Rush University System for Health, Northwestern Medicine and the Illinois and Chicago departments of public health at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Thursday.

“It won’t be as simple as closing public spaces because public spaces … were very safe over the summer and probably remain safe,” Birx said. “This is really something that has happened in the last three to four weeks. What has happened in the last three to four weeks is that people have moved their social gatherings indoors.”

On Thursday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced a curfew for nonessential businesses and no more indoor service at bars that don’t serve food. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has also announced tighter restrictions on bars, restaurants and gatherings in suburban counties with high COVID-19 positivity rates.

On Thursday the state announced 4,942 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, and the statewide rolling positivity rate stood at 5.7%, up from 3.7% two weeks earlier. In Illinois, 2,463 patients were in the hospital with COVID-19, according to Thursday figures, up from 1,812 two weeks earlier.

Birx also said Thursday that she advocated for weekly testing while meeting privately with hospital and public health leaders.

She said, at the news conference, that finding the “silent cases” and asymptomatic cases is “critical in preventing community spread.”

She recommended asking certain community members — such as community college students, teachers or hospital workers — if they would be willing to be tested weekly. She said universities that have tested students weekly have had more success limiting infections than those that only tested students who had been directly exposed to COVID-19 or had symptoms.

Birx said testing, along with mask-wearing and social distancing, are key to getting the spread of COVID-19 under control.

When asked what she’s doing to get President Donald Trump to understand the importance of social distancing and mask-wearing, she said: “My public health guidance is consistent no matter who I’m speaking to. I think you can see there’s a diversity of how people relate to that message.”

Dr. Benjamin Emery, Dentist in Casper, WY, Completes Seven Times the Continuing Education Hours Required by the State of Wyoming

Dr. Benjamin Emery completes over 300 hours of continuing education. Dr. Emery and his team in Casper, WY raise awareness of the importance of seeing a dentist trained in the latest techniques to receive lasting and effective dental care.

CASPER, Wyo. (PRWEB) October 21, 2020

Respected Casper, WY dentist, Dr. Benjamin Emery has now completed over 300 hours of continuing education courses over the last five years. As the first year that Wyoming has required dentists to receive any continuing education, Dr. Emery and his team are raising awareness of the importance of choosing a clinician with knowledge of the latest trainings and techniques. In constant pursuit of breakthrough research and findings in the field of dentistry, Dr. Emery and his associates, Drs. Stuart Youmans, Melissa Youmans, and Austin Baker emphasize the importance of this accomplishment.

Dental continuing education includes trainings and courses completed after dental school. These courses help clinicians stay up to date on the latest discoveries and ensures they retire outdated techniques after more minimally invasive ones are proven. Each state requires a minimum number of continuing education hours or credits to be completed by each dentist during every renewal period in order to practice in that state. Until this year, Wyoming was the only state that did not have a set requirement for dentists.

For reference, Arizona requires 72 hours be completed every three years and South Dakota requires 100 hours every five years. Starting this year, Wyoming requires just 16 hours of continuing dental education be completed every two years.

This puts Dr. Emery’s 300 hours over the last five years into better perspective. Dedicated to his craft and his community, he devotes so much of his time to furthering his education because he refuses to offer outdated care when better solutions are available. He strives to provide his patients with dental care that not only improves their health but offers a comfortable experience and lasting results.

As one of only a few dentists in Casper and Wyoming to offer full mouth reconstruction, he provides truly life-changing care with this transformative treatment all from the comfort of one practice. Dedicating over a decade of experience perfecting his craft, he restores smiles worn-down from teeth-grinding, incomplete from tooth loss, or tarnished by cosmetic imperfections by strategically blending a comprehensive list of treatments. With training from prestigious organizations such as the OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry, he combines services like crowns, bridges, Invisalign®, and dental implants, with modern technology including precise and comfortable digital scanning. By doing so, Dr. Emery and his award-winning team create functioning, lasting, and natural-looking smiles that rebuild proper health and restore self-confidence.

When choosing a dentist for care, from regular teeth cleaning to full mouth reconstruction, Dr. Emery and his team at Aspen Ridge Dental encourage patients to consider how much time the clinician has dedicated to continuing education. As uncompromising with his training and education as he is with his patients’ care, Dr. Emery and his team welcome new patients to
