Greene County lists two COVID-19 deaths

CARROLLTON — Greene County Health Department officials on Saturday reported two new COVID-19 deaths.

Both deaths were related to an outbreak at White Hall Nursing and Rehab, according to the health department. Age and gender information on the deceased was not available.

There have now been 19 coronavirus deaths in Greene County. Four new cases were diagnosed Saturday, one part of the long-term care facility outbreak and three that were community acquired, according to the health department.

Greene County has confirmed 293 total cases since March, with 255 recovered.

Greene, Jersey and Macoupin counties were named to the state’s COVID-19 watchlist on Friday, along with 48 other counties. No new virus-related deaths were reported Saturday in Madison, Macoupin, Jersey or Calhoun counties.

On Saturday, the Madison County Health Department reported 49 new cases and 912 tests. Saturday’s positivity rate was 5.37%. The three-day rate was 6.85%. The seven-day rate was 6.88%. And the 10-day rate was 6,78%.

As of Saturday, 7,133 tests had been completed in Madison County. The virus-related death tally remained at 153; there were 24 people in Madison County hospitals because of COVID-19, with four on ventilators.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, virus numbers for other neighboring counties included:

• Calhoun — 67 cases, no deaths.

• Jersey — 470 cases, 21 deaths.

• Macoupin — 784 cases, 10 deaths.

• St. Clair — 7,878 cases, 218 deaths.

• Clinton — 1,733 cases, 26 deaths.

• Monroe — 903 cases, 29 deaths.

• Montgomery — 609 cases, 16 deaths.

• Bond — 488 cases, 9 deaths.

• Washington — 301 cases, 2 deaths.
